OUR PRODUCTS

How are your pieces designed? 

We start with research: hours spent at libraries flipping through books, in museums studying art, and online looking for inspiration. We then get together to share what we’ve found and figure out what direction we want to take. Once we decide on the theme for a collection, each piece starts off as a sketch. Sneha maps out proportions and other technicalities while Aashna contributes with feedback and fangirling. Each piece undergoes a thorough design evolution, ensuring that it feels both new and nostalgic.

Where are your pieces made? 

Like us, all our pieces are proudly made in India.

How are your pieces made?

All our products are handmade using an ancient wax casting technique by gifted artisans in Jaipur. Long story short: a sketched design is first brought to life through a detailed wax model and rubber mold. Wax models are heated in plaster-filled flasks, these flasks are filled with molten brass, and the cooled brass eventually cracks to present a perfect piece of jewelry. The pieces are then plated with 18K gold.


Because they are handmade, each piece is one of a kind; no two pieces are the same. 

What materials do you work with? 

Our pieces are casted in brass and then plated with 18K gold. To give them lustre and longevity, we opt for micron plating instead of flash plating. All pieces are 1 micron plated to ensure they last through generations.We also use an array of semi precious gemstones including amethyst, turquoise, garnets, carnelian, peridot and more. How can I care for my pieces? 

Our jewelry is designed to be worn day in day out for years to come, not stay locked in safes. But like most things in life, it needs a little TLC. And while some tarnishing and scratches are normal, there are some easy ways to keep your pieces as pristine as the day they were made. 


Wearing: Last on, first off. In the morning, wear your jewelry as the final step of getting ready. At the end of the day, take it off before your usual night-time routine. This avoids contact with water, lotions, perfumes, etc.

Storing: Keep your pieces in an airtight container. All our orders come with a Ziploc and silica gel pack — both these aid in the longevity of our plating.

Cleaning: Every couple of months, you can opt to gently clean your pieces with a microfiber or jewelry cleaning specialist cloth. We don’t recommend any other products, polishes, or chemicals.

COVID-19: As we’re living through a global pandemic, we cannot recommend washing and sanitizing your hands enough. That being said, make sure you take any rings off while doing so and limit exposure from water, soap, and hand sanitizer to all jewelry.

What happens if my piece breaks?

All OLIO pieces are handcrafted with love and undergo a rigorous quality control check before they are dispatched to their new homes.If your piece is a little dented upon delivery, you have 7 days to request for a replacement. If it breaks as time goes on, you can email us at hi@theoliostories.com with your order number and a picture. While we don’t cover customer negligence, we’d love to see what we can do if there is a manufacturing defect.


PLACING AN ORDER

How can I pay for my order? 

In hugs and sushi. Jk. You can use plastic – Credit or Debit – and pay through our payment gateway. Or you can opt for the Cash on Delivery (only available in India) option at an additional Rs.100. We accept both Indian and non-Indian cards. If, for some reason, your payment doesn't go through, please write to us and we'll help with alternative modes of payment.

Can I exchange or return my order? 

We’re bummed you don’t love what you bought, but we're happy to offer options to make sure you’re satisfied. If there is an issue with your order, you have 7 days to request for a replacement. To start the process, email us at hi@theoliostories.com with your order number, and pictures of the issue. Cost of the courier (including the original packaging) sent to us will be borne by you. Cost of shipping the new piece to you will be borne by us.We do not offer refunds or exchanges for reasons other than manufacturing defects.

How can I cancel my order?

Orders can be cancelled any time before shipping. We work hard to get your jewelry dispatched ASAP so would appreciate an early heads up. For all canceled orders, your refund will be processed through mode of original payment within 7-10 working days.

The piece I want is sold out. What now?

Our pieces are made in limited quantities. We sell out fast, but aim to restock even faster. If the piece you want is sold out, sign up to hear when it’s restocked. There’s a unique link to do so on each product page.  

Can I have my order sent as a gift? 

Of course. All orders go out in velvet pouches and keepsake boxes, perfect for gifting (to others or to yourself). Simply fill out the notes section at the checkout page stating that you’d like the order to be a gift. You can even request a short note to go along with it. Pop in the receiver’s address and phone number and you’re good to go.

Do you offer gift cards?

We can’t think of a better gift! If you aren’t sure what exactly to get your loved one, we have gift cards available in four denominations.

How much does shipping cost?

We offer free shipping across India.

How long does delivery take? 

We wish you could just download your favourite pieces from our website, but alas! That day is a little far away. For now, it takes us 1-3 (business) days to process the order and ship it out. Thereafter, delivery time varies between 4-7 days depending on your location. Once we ship it out, you will receive an email with tracking details. If you'd like your order delivery expedited, please email us at hi@theoliostories.com and we'll try to accommodate your request.

Do you cover for lost or stolen packages?

We do not cover for any lost or stolen packages that have been confirmed as delivered. For a smooth delivery experience, please ensure your address and contact details are accurate.

My jewelry was damaged in transit — can I get a replacement?

Our pieces are made to last so the chances of breakage while shipping are slim. However, we’d be as heartbroken as you if you received a damaged piece. Please reach out to us within 7 days of delivery so we can look into it and send you a replacement. 


INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes, we do. If we can get there by post or carrier pigeon, we’re there.

How much does international shipping cost?

Our international shipping fee is an additional $10 USD flat. However, we offer free shipping for all international orders above $200. 

When will I get my order?

Soon, we hope! As with domestic orders, every international order is shipped out 1-3 days after it is placed. From there, its ETA varies based on your location. In our experience, most orders are delivered within 10 business days of dispatch.

What about customs and duties? 

Some countries levy taxes, customs fees, and/or other duties when goods are imported in. These charges are typically determined at the point of entry of the package and must be paid before you can receive it. In these cases, all applicable clearances fees and delays are the responsibility of the customer.

Do you cover for lost or stolen packages?

We do not cover for any lost or stolen packages that have been confirmed as delivered. For a smooth delivery experience, please ensure your address and contact details are accurate.

Can I return or exchange an international order?

Sure thing. If there are any manufacturing defects, please inform us within 7 days of delivery so we can get a new piece to you. As with domestic orders, costs of shipping the order back to us will be borne by you. We recommend using a secure and trackable courier service (FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc.) as we cannot be held responsible for packages that do not reach us. If you originally paid any customs or duties, please note that these will not be refunded by us.

We believe it’s important to use our platform and profits to support causes we champion. Each month, we spotlight an issue we care about on social media and donate a portion of our profits to an organization working in tandem with it. 

How do you choose organizations to give monthly proceeds to?

While we don’t take the decision lightly, it comes to us pretty naturally. We choose organizations based on recent events, our own values, and issues our customers care about. If there’s an organization you think deserves a helping hand, reach out to us. We’re always looking to help those helping others.

What causes have you supported recently? 

We have recently donated funds to the Indian farmers protest, animal endangerment, LGBTQ+ representation, providing clean sanitary products to young girls, and more.
