The Story of Tukda
The gemstones in this piece use a bezel setting—a style of setting in which a ring of metal holds the stone in place. This encasing of metal slightly overlaps the edges of the stone, which helps keep it safe.
The craftsmen in Jaipur refer to each jewel encased part as tukda, which means 'piece' in Hindi. This neckpiece is made up of all these tukdas strung together like a garland, which is called haar in Hindi.
All our products are handmade using ancient lost-wax casting method by gifted artisans in Jaipur, India. Each piece is unique and made in limited quantities. Find our step-by-step process here.
Care for this piece like you would for your jigar ka tukda.
To avoid the wearing of your plating, remove when in contact with water, cleaning solutions, lotions and perfumes. All our pieces come with a Ziploc, silica gel pack and a handcrafted jewelry box for storage and longevity of plating.
