Jia + Gunee

Tell us a little about yourselves.

Jia: I am a night owl and can't start my day without a large breakfast and 2 big mugs of coffee. I am a teetotaller, and hence am the sober girl at parties. I will still hit the floor when the DJ starts to play old-school hip hop.
I am fiercely protective of my sister and my girlfriends. I still wear my heart on my sleeve and have learnt to trust my gut when it comes to the bigger decisions in my life.

Gunee: I love coke zero with lots of ice, word games, playing my music in other people's cars, looking at beautiful people on Instagram, and overthinking everything.
I will bore you at parties with mundane pictures of my dogs and cat but can also rap Nicki Minaj's verse in Monster almost as well as she does (jk jk). So, on average, I am a good party guest, right?
You're a wellness blogger. How did you get into wellness?
Jia: I've always been pretty preoccupied with eating clean and training consistently until I realised that too much of a good thing can also be bad for you. I started taking better care of myself post my divorce. A divorce can spin you around and kick you to the curb. I found myself finally appreciating yoga and quality-over-quantity when it comes to friends.

Name all the places you traveled to last year. Which one was your favourite?
Jia: Well, 2016, was absolutely fabulous! Bali, Thailand, Mauritius, Paris, Germany, Romania, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Bali is my FAVOURITE place in the world. You can scuba dive one day, skydive the next, or go bungee jumping or parasailing. The food is absolutely delicious and I was constantly sipping on vanilla tea or coffee.

Essentials you carry with you when you travel.
Jia: A scribble pad, bluetooth speakers, power bank, mosquito repellent, sunblock and lip balm. A travel-sized bottle of perfume and box of mints are essential because you may bump into Channing Tatum on a flight.
Tell us about Luna and Loco (+ all your adopted animals)
Gunee: Loco (our fluffy cat) teaches me the importance of personal space and is very affectionate on his terms; Luna (my desi dog) loves getting in my face and is like a bottomless silo of love.
As for Basanti, Champa, Chickoo, Mr. Patnaik, Stella, etc. thank you for trusting to me be your hooman. (They all have very distinct personalities that are better seen in person.)

Is it tough to be a puppy crusader?
Gunee: Yes, and unfortunately, it usually ends in heartbreak. The number of cute, deserving pups will always exceed the number of loving homes. It's important to let them be with their moms and become street-smart. Just feed, vaccinate, and sterilize!

Spirit animal?
Gunee: Sloth. All I want is fresh fruit and lots and lots of naps.
What do you do for fun?
Gunee: Dance alone in my room post-midnight, watch a crime drama, annoy my boyfriend with unanswerable questions, try out different languages on Duolingo, or indulge in comfort food and cold beer with close friends.

What are you looking forward to?
Jia: Nando's for dinner tonight. And exploring Africa in the next few weeks.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Gunee: A sprawling meadow in rural Germany, not too far from Berlin :)

Comfort food?
Jia: A large bowl of pho on a cold evening.
